If you are wondering what makes your hair dull then here is the reason. When our hair cuticles do not lie flat, light does not get reflected from hair shafts and they look dull. But when the cuticles lie flat on each other the hair shines.

The first secret of shiny hair is perhaps the most inexpensive one. It’s cold water. No, I am not kidding. A cold shower can really bring back the shine to your hair. I am not asking you to forego warm showers altogether. What you need to do is at the end of your shower just wash your hair with some cold water. Cold water closes the hair cuticles and they reflect light to give a shine to our hair.

The second remedy is also very easy. Do not make the mistake I made. Buy hair products that suit your hair. If your hair is dry and you buy shampoos for oily hair then you will naturally end up with dull and frizzy hair! So before compulsively buying any product, try to know the product. This will save your money and hair too.

Here comes another secret which is not a secret at all. You must have heard about the benefits of healthy eating. But you may not know the positive effects it has on your hair.

Drink plenty of water to keep yourself well hydrated. Stick to the regime of drinking 8-9 glasses of water every day. You should drink water even when you are not feeling thirsty. Often we do not realize that we are dehydrated. If your body is hydrated your hair will also show the benefits of it.

Our hair is made up protein. To protect it and maintain it you need protein in your diet. Eat meat, fish and eggs which are rich sources of protein.

Nuts are very good for hair. So munch on some as snacks to have a shiny hair.

Vitamin E is known to add shine and shimmer to our hair. Good sources of it are nuts, seeds, asparagus and olives and spinach. Do not forget to include them in your diet.

Your kitchen is a good source for ingredients that can inexpensively make your hair shine. Take some apple cider vinegar and mix with water, spray it on your hair and then rinse thoroughly. Your hair will have that glow which you desperately wanted.

Honey is a natural moisturizer that can do wonder to your hair also. It moisturizes your hair and conditions it also. You can mix honey with the conditioner you use and condition as usual.

Lastly, brush your hair properly. It may seem very obvious but there are lots of people who do not brush hair properly. Every morning the first thing you should do is to take a broad bristled brush and thoroughly brush your hair with it. This will distribute the oil throughout the hair shaft and make it shine.

Adopt these simple methods and see how your hair shines with health. The added sheen will definitely make you proud, and that too naturally.

Dry hair tends to be thin and rough. It is susceptible to tangles, damage, breakage and split ends. If your hair is on the dry side, you know how frustrating this can be getting ready for work or a night out on the town.

When caring for dry hair, the primary aim is to replenish the oil and the moisture in the hair. With this, you should emphasize the conditioning aspect of your hair care. Get moisture in, keep dryness out.

Strong cleansing routines and dry toning exercises and massaging of the scalp promote dryness and flakiness of the scalp. The use of strong-action shampoo is prohibited for dry hair. Frequent shampooing is harmful for dry hair.

When taken care of your dry hair, you have two choices: (1) natural home remedies with stuff you may have on hand and (2) natural hair care products specifically formulated for dry hair like an ultra rich, protein moisturizing hair reconstructor that infuses new life into dry hair.

Home Remedies

We suggest a few remedies you can try at home for managing dry hair.

For the moisture-dry hair, a moisturizer application is required.

Gentle Cleanser home remedy for dry hair

Beat an egg in a cup of skimmed milk. When the foam becomes consistent, rub it into the scalp. Leave it on for 5 minutes. Rinse the hair thoroughly with water. Carry out this routine twice a week.

Take a cup of coconut milk and add two tablespoons of gram flour or one teaspoon of shikakai. Apply on your scalp and hair and massage gently. Rinse it out after five minutes. Follow this recipe at least once a week.

Protein Conditioner home remedy for dry hair

Beat one tablespoon of castor oil, one tablespoon of glycerin, a teaspoon of cider vinegar and a teaspoon of protein, plus a tablespoon of mild herbal shampoo. Apply it on scalp and leave it on for 20 minutes. Rinse with clear water.

Special Massage Oil/Toner home remedy for dry hair

Get a bottle of castor oil or coconut oil. Add a teaspoon of lavender essential oil in it. Heat a little and massage it gently in your scalp at night. Rinse or shampoo it out in the morning. Follow this routine at least twice a week.

Hair Care Products

Try these hair care products by Miykael Parrish.

All Natural Thermatic Clay Treatment – an all natural hair clay designed to rejuvenate and moisturize chemically treated, dry, fine, and limp hair. With an all natural blend of emulsifiers and herbs, it replenishes, moisture and increases hair shaft integrity and strength lost during chemical services, heat styling, and environmental damage. This unique mix of deep penetrating organic elements nourishes the air from the inside-out and promotes exceptional volume and healthy shine.

Hair Extension Conditioner Care – helps protect and nourish hair while preventing dryness with an infusion of oils. It detangles gently and adds incredible shine and manageability while helping to protect hair against thermal styling, harmful UV rays, and color loss.

Muscle Mousse – a maximum hold conditioning mousse rich in panthenol (Pro-Vitamin B5). An additional blend of herbal extracts including aloe and chamomile conditions the hair while the mousse provides exceptional hold and volume. For use on either wet or dry hair, this product is a fantastic tool for getting the right look. It is a panthenol-enriched, maximum-hold, foam.

Rejuvenating Conditioner – an ultra-rich, protein moisturizing hair reconstructor that infuses new life into dry, coarse, wiry and/or naturally curly hair. Penetrates deeply into the hair to strengthen and return the hair to its most natural healthy condition. Leaves the air incredibly shiny and radiant. Makes hair more manageable

Rejuvenating Shampoo – a conditioning shampoo that will not only cleanse your hair, but condition it as well. It has Pro-V Body building and moisturizing for dry brittle hair.

Scalp Moisturizer – an intense moisturizer formulated for dry, flaky scalp and skin.

Other tips on home based treatment of dry hair

1. First assess whether your scalp and hair are moisture dry or oil-dry.

2. Condition your hair as often as you wash it.

3. Never comb, brush, or massage vigorously if the hair is extremely dry.

Before any kind of routine care is followed, be familiar with the needs of your scalp and hair.

Is There Anything You Can Do To Slow Balding?

Is your father, brother, uncle, grandpa, and other relatives balding? Are you scared of getting bald or thinning? Is your forehead looking bigger than normal? If yes, then you are at risk of getting bald! Balding is more associated with your genes than anuthing else. Other then mentally dealing with it, here are some tips that you can do to help delay the inevitable!

1. Exercise at least half an hour a day

Exercise in general will boost your hair growth. This is because when you exercise, you increase general blood circulation all over your body. Hair in general requires very good blood circulation. If it doesn’t than hair tissue tend to die off and then you have thinning of the hair or even baldness.

Running is the best thing to make your hair grow faster and better because it will pump blood to your head much better than any exercise!

2. Massage your head

Massaging your head increases hair growth dramatically. This is because massaging stimulates hair growth and also increases the circulation to your hair. Hair requires constant nutrition to stay healthy and strong. When you massage your head, you increase the nutrition to your hair by increasing circulation from your head. It will also stimulate growth because the roots of your hair is being stimulated.

3. Drink green tea

Drinking green tea will help to grow more thick hair. This is because green tea contains anti-oxidants which help reduce aging and tissue damage. It will protect your hair from getting broken off from the roots of your hair and also increases the strength of your hair.

4. Avoid wearing hats

People who wear hats tend to get bald when they grow older. This is because you are damaging your hair when you wear a hat. When wearing a hat, you are putting a lot of unnecessary pressure on your hair roots. Avoid this at all cost by avoiding wearing hats.

5. Soak your head in warm water

Soaking your head in warm water for 5 minutes a day will help promote growth. This is because warm water acts as a muscle relaxant in the skull. When the muscles in your head gets tense, it stunts hair growth. So simple soaking your head in warm water will help relax your head muscles and promote growth! This soaking is also accomplished when you shampoo your hair in the shower every morning.

Hair comes in a variety of textures from fine to coarse. It can suffer a range of hair damage from fraying, split ends to damage caused by straightening hair with chemical agents or hair irons. There can be hair damage due to heat from blow dryers or curling irons, hair coloring problems, or even scalp problems like over-production of oil from the sebaceous glands.

But if hair is healthy and protected from over exposure to heat and harsh chemicals, it should require nothing more than a good quality shampoo (perhaps one formulated for a specific hair type) and weekly conditioning either with a commercial product or a natural mixture like rosemary and olive oil. Problem hair is usually hair that is being damaged by either an internal or external agent that can be eliminated by a change in routine or habits.

All to often what we choose to do to our hair in terms of style and supposed “care” actually damages the hair. In addition, our life habits have a significant impact on the health and appearance of the hair.

High Daily Caffeine Consumption

Poor Nutrition

Lack of Sleep

Poor Hair Maintenance Routine

Sun Damage

Straightened Hair Styles

Using the wrong hair products

Conclusions

The healthier your lifestyle is the healthier your hair will be. With a proper diet, the recommended amount of sleep, and by avoiding smoking and drinking your hair should be “normal” for you. Hair comes in a variety of textures and with a variety of issues relative to degree of moisture (oily v. dry) but all these can be addressed with a proper selection of hair care products and styles. Damage caused by straightening hair and hair damage from other external sources can usually be eliminated by a change in habits and routine.

Products to Help Make Your Curls Look Great!

If you have curly hair, chances are your hair tends to be dry, coarse and brittle. It also tends to frizz up, doesn’t it? Here, we show you how to care for your curly hair.

Products You Need to Use Regularly

Unlike your limp-tressed sisters who should stay away from products that weigh down their hair, you need a few products to keep frizz and dryness in check:

Creamy shampoos Creamy shampoos are a better bet than clarifying (or clear) shampoos.

Two types of conditioners You simply cannot overcondition frizzy hair. You need a heavy conditioner for use every time you wash your hair, and a deep conditioner for use once a week.

Smoothing cream and alcohol-free gel From the minute you step out of the shower, you need to coat the cuticle so it locks out moisture. In the book Confessions of a Beauty Editor, author Linda Wells suggests a one-two-punch: 2 parts cream for 1 part gel (yes, you have to buy the products separately). A walnut-sized amount will do you. Simply rub together then palm the mixture from mid-shaft down. Comb the product throughout all of your hair with a wide-toothed comb.

Styling cream Enhance your curls with a cream created for curly hair. Rub it in and let hair airdry.

Style serum Warm up a couple drops of this in your hands and palm over dry, frizzy curls. The serum will solve your frizz problems.

Straightening balm or gel If you want to blow-dry hair straight, rub a quarter-size amount of this on hair before drying curly hair (always in sections, working from the lower layers on up).

Miykael Parrish carries a full assortment of products for your curly hair.

Black hair can run the gamut from straight to slightly wavy to super tight coils, but many people of African descent find that their natural hair falls somewhere in between. You don’t have to be biracial or multiracial to have hair that’s described as “naturally curly.” Curls may range in size from pen spring to fat marker, but the care and feeding of them is similar.

Want to flaunt those curls without worrying about a lot of frizz? These 10 tips are made for anyone seeking well-defined curls.

1. Shampoo in the Shower

2. Keep Hair Well-Moisturized

3. Apply Products While Wet

4. Divide Hair into Sections

5. Do Not Scrunch

6. Use Good Quality Products

7. After Products are Applied, Leave Hair Alone

8. Let Hair Air Dry Whenever Possible

9. Avoid Oils
